Men's Ministry

Assists the widowed, single, or infirm on an as-needed basis with the following:
Car maintenance, such as oil changes, tune-ups, or minor repairs.
Home repair and maintenance.
Lawn or garden care.
Transportation to and from the church, store, doctor's office, etc.

Missions Ministry

Recommends a budget annually to the vestry.
Provides updates to the congregation regarding mission needs.
Coordinates missionary visits to the parish.

Nursery Ministry

Coordinator
Establishes schedule of volunteers and ensures supplies are sufficient and environment is healthy, secure, and organized.
Caretakers
Watches young children during Sunday School hour and church services for a period of one month.

Outreach Ministry

Visitation
Calls upon visitors who attend our church.
Joins the pastor on visitations to the ill and infirm.
Encourages members through telephone calls and cards.
Equipping
Disciples new converts to the faith.
Hospitality
Invites visitors, new converts, and new members into their homes for fellowship and building friendships.

Senior and Middle Teens Youth Groups Ministry

Bus Driver
Drives kids to Youth Group events. (Must be willing to cart around van-loads of kids with headphones and candy.)
Food Distributor
Donates food for youth group events, made up of ever-hungry teenagers. (Snacks and junk food are always appreciated!)
Trusting Soul
Loans personal mini-vans for occasional youth group trips or activities.
Loans camping supplies, such as tents, grills, etc.
Superhero
Disciples teens by helping to work with youth and their families.
Attends occasional Youth Group events.

Sunday School Ministry

Children's Bible Clubs
Group leaders and assistants for grades 1-3 and 4-6. Lessons and activities provided. Serve from October through May.
Children's Churchtime Helpers
Supervise activities and lessons for Nursery (2-3 year-olds) or Kindergarten (4-5 year-olds) for a period of one month.
Children's Musical Programs
Assists with costumes, sets, or luncheon for the Easter and Christmas programs.
Fall Harvest Party
Assists with activities, food, prizes, decorations, and cleanup for party.
Sunday School Cribbery
Watch infants during the Sunday School hour.
Sunday School Teachers
Teach particular classes as needed. Materials provided.
Sunday School Substitutes
Fill in for Sunday School teachers when needed.
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Team leaders and helpers (classroom and kitchen).

Women's Ministry

Banner
Designs and produces banners to the glory of God while studying His Word for inspiration and guidance.
Community Outreach
Identifies needs and assists where needed in the community which may include:
Local soup kitchens, bag lunches for Escape Ministries, etc.
Holiday food baskets and gifts for those in need.
Local hospitals and nursing homes visitations, including manicures at Eldercare in Sykesville, etc.
Coordinate with other Christian organizations and missions where assistance is desired.
Fellowship
Plans and organizes fellowship opportunities for the congregation, such as:
Congregational dinners and lunches.
Adult socials.
Women's activities such as retreats, inter-denominational conferences, annual gatherings, etc.
Housekeeping
Coordinates kitchen help and cleanup for church suppers, lunches, etc.
Organizes "spring cleaning" of kitchen.
Prayer Chain
Organizes and maintains a prayer chain for the church.
Sunshine (Congregational Care)
Identifies spiritual and practical needs of St. Stephen's Church members and organizes efforts to meet those needs including:
Coordinates meals for new moms or for those ill or recovering from surgery.
Plans meals as needed, e.g., funerals, special events, etc.
Visits and corresponds with those unable to attend church.
Makes new members feel welcome and helps them become involved in church activities.

Worship Ministry

Audio/Video
Sets up, controls, and ensures repair of audio and video systems
Tapes sermons, catalogues each, makes copies when requested, and distributes tapes as needed.
Choir
Aids congregation by leading singing every other week during Sunday morning worship.
Presents additional programs during the Christmas and Easter seasons.
Flowers
Coordinates purchasing of flowers for Sunday morning worship. Flowers are paid for by individual who contacts volunteer about purchasing flowers in honor of, or in memory of, loved ones. Appropriate announcement is placed in bulletin.
Praise Team
Leads congregational singing in primarily contemporary Christian songs twice a month during Sunday morning worship. Occasional practices may be required.
Sacristy
Ensures the elements for communion, items for reader boards, paraments, and the Bibles, hymnals, and prayer books are satisfactory for worship each Sunday.
Ushers
Assist with communion and collection of tithes and offerings. Serves for a period of one month.
Welcoming
Greets churchgoers at Sunday morning worship, hands out bulletins, and assists visitors with general information and directions to Sunday School classrooms, nursery, and cribbery. Serves for a period of one month.
